|Vacancy: Project Coordinator
The German Meeting Point Malawi, is a non governmental organization, belonging to the International Kolping Society. It was founded by Adolph Kolping (born 1813, died 1865) who was a catholic priest in the Cologne area. Nowadays the Kolping organization is working world wide in about 55 countries. Its a Christian family movement. The smallest unit is called Kolping Family which is working independent on the local basis. In Africa, Kolping Families can be found for instance in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Zaire, Benin, Nigeria, South Africa and Ghana. Kolping encourages people to help themselves and supports them in developmental programs. In Malawi the focus is on micro projects and on better co-operation between the Kolping families. Currently we are in contact with Kolping families in northern Malawi, diocese Mzuzu.
Our aims are:
to secure the regular communication with the existing Kolping families
to be informed about the economical, political and social situation in Malawi
to spread the ideas of a Kolping Family in new areas of Malawi with the aim to found new Kolping Families.
Further on the incumbent will consult the members of the Kolping Families to improve the success of their local micro projects.
The successful male or female incumbent will have some experience in planning and co-ordination, be self motivated, have good English communication and writing skills, be flexible in travelling through Malawi and be computer literate. A catholic and Kolping background as well as some knowledge of German can be an advantage.
