The Ministry of Justice
consists of the following sections and departments -
1. Minister’s Office
The Minister is the
political head of the Ministry. He
is responsible for the legal sector President and to the Cabinet and to
the people through Parliament.

2. Administration
Section
The Secretary for
Justice heads this section. He
is the Permanent Secretary as well as Controlling Officer of the
Ministry by virtue of the Finance and Audit Act, chapter 37:01 of the
Laws of Malawi. In Malawi,
Permanent Secretaries are also known as Principal Secretaries.
In practice, the Solicitor General doubles up as the Secretary
for Justice and the day-to-day administration of the Ministry is placed
under the supervision of the Principal Secretary (Administration).
The Administration section is responsible for the general
administration of all the sections and departments of the Ministry and
in particular, provides leadership and training to professional and
support staff in order to effectively accomplish the mandate of the
Ministry.
