Women's Voice is an indiginous non-profit and non-partisan
human rights organisation which is devoted to promotion and protection
of justice and welfare of women. It was formed in 1993 registered under
the Trustees Incorporation's Act in 1994.
Women's Voice was founded by a group of women at a time when the wind of multi-party era was coming into the country during the time that many human rights organisations had just started. Women's Voice was among the first women non-governmental organisations formed at that time. |
Women's Voice members of staff worked as volunteers until
October 1999 when Cordaid then Bilance, came to their rescue. Women's Voice
then managed to employ five members of staff to man the human rights activities
of Womens Voice. That is the Executive Director, Research Officer, Administrative
Secretary, Office Assistant and the Guard until today.Women's Voice operates
in four districts ; Nkhatabay, Mzuzu, Mchinji and Chiradzulu and has so
far opened up offices in Mzuzu and Mchinji.
Women's Voice also believes in networking with other non-govermental and governmental institutions with whom they share the same cause. |
